The Gas for Climate consortium, a group made up of interests representing gas transport and renewable gas industries, has released a report suggesting that the potential for biomethane in Europe (EU plus CH, NO and UK) by 2030 goes beyond the REPowerEU and their previous estimate of 35 bcm.
The GfC 2030 estimate now sits at 41 bcm, and their 2050 estimate has also seen a substantial increase to 151 bcm, almost equivalent to the amount of Russian natural gas imported in 2020 (155 bcm).
