On 20 January 2026, Trafigura signed a purchase agreement with SP Developments Uruguay — a subsidary of Syzygy Plasmonics. The purchase agreement is reported to nearly 500,000 gallons (approximately 1,500 tonnes) of SAF annually from Syzygy’s first commercial scale project NovaSAF-1, located in Durazno, Uruguay and will be producing both bio- and e-SAF, with deliveries targeted in 2028.
