Liese calls for compromise on LRF

In a press briefing on 28 October, the European Parliament’s lead rapporteur on the Emissions Trading System (ETS) review, Peter Liese (EPP), told journalists that negotiators’ positions on the future supply trajectory remained far apart. He hinted that a failure to agree on the linear reduction factor, which decides the European Union Allowance (EUA) supply trajectory, will jeopardise the timeline for Parliament to agree its position in mid-December.

The update sets out the reduction rates proposed by the Commission, Liese, S&D and the Greens, and the ECR group, and what a missed compromise this year could mean for the ETS review.
