Italy calls for ETS suspension, other member states oppose

Italy has ramped up its attacks on the EU ETS as Industry Minister Adolfo Urso called on the European Commission to suspend the market until the system has been reformed. This is the second time this week that Italy has proposed measures to undermine EU emissions trading, having put forward a scheme to reimburse gas-powered generators for EU ETS costs.
