S&D and group of seven countries want ambitious ETS cap trajectory to 2040

The battlelines are starting to be drawn before the European Commission presents its proposal on ETS reform next Friday. Both in the European Parliament and the Council, opinions differ on the pace and sequencing of the reduction of EUA issuance in the years 2031-2040. The European Commission must come up with a trajectory proposal that might represent a ‘landing zone’ acceptable to a majority among both lawmakers.
