As expected, the European Parliament plenary voted in favour of a Commission proposal to tweak ETS2 to lower price expectations. A majority of MEPs hailing mainly from the EPP, S&D, Renew and Greens groups, approved the ENVI committee report on the proposal, with some additional amendments. Alternative amendments, proposed by the far-right groups (ECR, PfE, ESN) were rejected, as was a proposal from the far-left to reject the Commission proposal. Rapporteur Nerudová can now start trilogue negotiations with the Cypriot presidency to conclude and adopt the file.
