Commission President von den Leyen has sent a letter to member states proposing to tweak the Market Stability Reserve (MSR) to help curb the EUA price. The five-page letter, dated 16 March, seen by Veyt, addresses energy costs, security of oil supply, taxes/levies and carbon cost. On the latter, it states the Commission’s intention to shortly adopt new ETS benchmark and “increase the firepower of the MSR so that it can […] address excessive price volatility and keep prices in check in the short term”.
