The European Commission proposed on 22 March 2023 common criteria against greenwashing and misleading environmental claims in the form of a new Directive (‘the Green Claims Directive’). The proposal includes changes to a previously leaked version that positioned specific GOs favourably for making voluntary environmental claims.
