EU’s Modernisation Fund has recently allocated EUR 500 million to Romania to launch competitive renewables auctions. The funding could help the country install 10GW new renewable capacity by 2030, in line with the new target expected to be set in the upcoming update of Romania’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP).
However, a firm strategy is yet to be revealed with questionmarks around auction time-lines as well as Romania’s future membership in the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB).
