This auction contained two lots, according to the criteria of technology (Biomass and Wind) and power plant characteristics (eligible for UK CfD/FiT levy exemptions). In total, about 294.64GWh of GOs produced were offered in this auction, of which around 28% was from Biomass GOs eligible for CfD/FiT levy exemption schemes, while the rest (213 GWh) was Wind GOs from power plants commissioned after 2015 and before May 2020. All volumes offered in the auction were sold, for both technologies.

Compared to the previous auction, the offered volumes decreased by around 12%, mainly due to a substantial drop in offered volumes from Wind plants, with auctioned volumes decreasing by over 14% from 247 GWh offered in July 2022 to 213 GWh this month.

The traded prices increased for all GO products compared to the previous auction: Wind’s marginal price increased by close to 140%, with a 185% increase in its minimum price. As per Biomass, its marginal price gained 72% compared to the last auction, and its minimum price 118%.

Relative to the corresponding OTC prices, Wind GOs were traded with an 18 Eurocents discount, whilst a premium of more than 60 Eurocents was observed for Biomass GOs. However, since CROPEX reports only marginal prices and not volume-weighted average prices, it is hard to make a direct price comparison to the OTC market.
