RGA prices decline despite record high power demand in RGGI region

Cold temperatures and winter storms have led to a sharp increase in power demand and prices across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Similar conditions in Quebec, whose power grid is connected to New England and New York, have exacerbated the increase in prices and emissions. Despite these conditions, RGA prices have declined – indicating utilities are likely waiting to cover their emissions via the high auction supply that will be offered in the Q1 auction in March.
