Avangrid Inc. asked the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities on 16 Decmeber to stop their review of the wind company’s power purchase agreements (PPAs). The company believes their current PPAs for their Commonwealth Offshore Wind Project are not financially feasible anymore and want to rebid the contracts in the spring of 2023. Any delays tobthe expected 2028 onboarding of the wind energy into the state’s grid may pose consequences on the carbon market.
