SBTi’s beyond value chain guidance provides clarity on the usage of carbon credits

On February 28, the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) published BVCM report and a research paper on accelerating corporate adoption of BVCM. The reports cover incentives, challenges, and pathways for private sector adoption of BVCM, drawing upon extensive research and stakeholder consultations conducted by the SBTi. The guidance emphasizes the importance of additional efforts to combat climate change. Companies are encouraged to explore different pathways, including purchasing carbon credits, or investing in mitigation projects to offset emissions outside their immediate scope.
