The EU gas market reform: How could the gas package impact the green gas certificate market?

Upon an agreement on the Council’s position (general approach) in March 2023, the hydrogen and decarbonised gas market package establishes the common rules for the internal markets in renewable and natural gases and in hydrogen. Among the proposed rules, the creation of a certification system for renewable and low-carbon gases was addressed. This would potentially bring significant impacts to the green gas certificate market.
