Swedish Government announces production support for biomethane

  • Sweden will offer subsidies to production, of up to 45 ore/kWh (45 EUR/MWh) for Bio LNG. The total pool of money assigned to the subsidy is yet to be decided.
  • The expected increase in supply is not expected to satiate demand, thus a decrease in price is not anticipated.
The industrial and heating are likely the main target demand sectors for the additional biomethane.
  • While biomethane has thrived without a GO system, RED II requirements will see a national register developed in the near future.
