On 28 November 2022, energy major Shell entered into a deal to acquire Danish company Nature Energy for EUR 1.9 billion, in its expansion of low carbon fuel production capability, which also includes green hydrogen. Other energy majors that had shown interest in acquiring the biomethane producer include BP and Repsol, although they dropped their offers after the second round of bidding at the end of October.
