Preparations for Bulgaria’s AIB connection in full swing

Bulgaria has put out for public discussion a draft ordinance on the guarantees of origin (GOs) which would be crucial in the process of developing a liquid GO market. The country’s issuing body SEDA has formally applied to become an AIB member and the process of reaching full EECS membership is underway.

However, given that supported GOs will not be tradable, the supply on the market will be heavily dependent on existing hydro production and future wind and solar capacities which would seek a direct market entry without securing power purchase agreements (PPAs).
