Increasing relevance of maritime emissions in the EU ETS

Maritime emissions in the EU have been heavily impacted by geopolitics and events over the last few years. Veyt forecast lower emissions from shipping in the EU ETS scope to 2030. We forecast 2030 emissions to be 12% lower compared to 2022. On average for the period 2024-2030, annual emissions are forecast to be 6% lower. The reduction is smaller than for other EU ETS sectors and hence results in a relatively higher share of emissions for the maritime sector.
