Impacts in China as the New Year marks the completion of I-REC reforms

The I-REC Standard Board decided in May 2021 to initiate a phase-out of FiT-subsidized generation facilities from the I-REC registry, while at the same time opening the system for non-state-owned enterprises (non-SOE). The reform is completed upon entry into 2023, as FiT-subsidized generation facilities won´t be able to receive I-RECs for their power production. This article examines how these reforms have affected the I-REC market in China.
