Greece may not be able to hold its first auctions for supported guarantees of origin (GO) before the end of the current disclosure period on 31 March 2024.
On 19 February 2024, Energy regulator RAAEY posted for public consultation the updated proposal for the regulation of GO auctions by Greek registry DAPEEP. Interested parties have until 4 March to submit their opinions on the proposal.
DAPEEP was hoping for these rules to be approved by now as plans for auctions of an estimated 6 TWh worth of GOs were set for early 2024. However, given the delay in the proposal’s approval, it seems unlikely that the auctions would be organised by the end of March.
Furthermore, there is still no timeline as to when Greek GO exports would be allowed within the AIB. Currently, Greece can only import GOs.
