For the second year in a row the compliance deadline for the previous year’s emissions was 30 September. This year was the first where the maritime sector had to comply with its EU ETS obligations. According to the union registry this sector has handed in 34.8 million allowances for 2024 obligations. This number will decide how much the cap will be retroactively adjusted.
