Et minicruise fra Oslo til Kiel vil koste 2000 kroner mer per familie når den europeiske karbonprisen slår inn for fullt

Fra og med i år må rundt 12 000 av skipene som seiler i europeiske farvann begynne å kjøpe EU-kvoter (EUA’er) i det europeiske karbonmarkedet (EU ETS). Til tross for en estimert nedgang på 2,6 % i utslippene fra skipsfart på årsbasis i 2023, må rederiene ifølge Veyt betale høye kostnader for EU-kvoter hvis de ikke tar i bruk teknologi som reduserer deres karbonutslipp. Dette vil blant annet få konsekvenser for billettprisene for passasjerer som reiser fra norske havner til EU-destinasjoner.
