Veyt is pleased to participate in the upcoming virtual event hosted by Carbon Market Watch on 2 December 2025, where our Chief Analytics Officer, Marcus Ferdinand, will deliver an expert presentation on the impact of recent changes to the Emission Trading System for road transport and buildings (ETS2).
Context
This autumn has brought several significant political developments linked to the future ETS2. EU member states have proposed important adjustments to the scheme, including a reform of the ETS2 Market Stability Reserve (MSR) and a potential one-year postponement of the system’s launch.
These proposed changes raise crucial questions about the effectiveness and fairness of carbon pricing for road transport and buildings. Understanding their implications is essential for ensuring a socially fair and environmentally effective ETS2, particularly as Europe advances towards its climate commitments.
What to expect
The event will gather researchers, analysts, civil society organisations, and industry leaders for a timely and in-depth discussion. It will also mark the launch of the ETS2 101 guide developed by the LIFE Effect consortium.
Veyt’s contribution will focus on clear, data-driven insights into how the proposed ETS2 reforms could influence market functioning, price formation, and the broader decarbonisation pathway for the road transport and building sectors.
