Romania has awarded 2.75 GW renewable capacity with two-way Contracts for Difference (CfD) in its second auction round, falling short of the planned 3.5 GW offered amid limited interest in bidding for onshore wind projects.
The awarded capacity will contribute to the supply in the planned auctions for supported Guarantees of Origin (GOs) due to start in 2026. The Romanian market for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) may also see renewed activity as investors who have now secured government support for part of their large-scale projects, seek offtakers for the remaining capacity.
