New German renewable support scheme likely to favour capacity over production

Germany will change its renewable support mechanism from 2027 with a scheme based on production-independent remuneration looking increasingly likely.
The country’s ability to reach its ambitious 2030 targets would remain under question if the government fails to plan and communicate the changes in time, although the supply on the local guarantees of origin (GOs) market would remain unaffected. On the other hand, projects in prime locations are still likely to be realised via power purchase agreements (PPA).
