German plans to transition national fuel emission trading system to ETS2 can impact EU ETS (ETS1) prices
The German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) has published a draft of the new Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act (TEHG) on 30 July 2024. This is merely a transposition of the changed ETS Directive rules as part of the Fit-for-55 package adoption into national law but also foresees a transitional pathway for Germany’s national fuel emission trading system into the newly established ETS2.
