EBA conference 2022 – a lot to digest?

The European Biogas Association held their annual event on 24-25 October 2022, with the number of participants exceeding 300 – a substantial increase from the previous year. The effects of the Ukraine crisis and REPowerEU on the industry dominated the themes of the discussion.

Some of the key takeaways included:

  • Establishment of the Biomethane Industrial Partnership (BIP) and how this will influence national energy climate plans;
  • The status of gas certificates (including Guarantees of Origins) is still unclear but appears to have attention; and
  • Biogenic CO2 from biogas upgrading as a value product, and income stream.
