Commission’s Wind Power Packages target auction design, permitting

On 24 October 2023, the Commission presented its action plans for onshore and offshore wind. The plans take the form of legal tweaks and recommendations as opposed to being full legal proposals. This means that the communications do not have any legislative force and should be read as a political commitment with a focus on enforcing existing rules.

If successfully implemented, auction criteria will be aligned across the block to ensure more predictable and sustainable wind project development, while fast-tracking permitting procedures.
