China makes scope expansion of national ETS official
On 7 September, China’s Environment Minister confirmed that three carbon-intensive industrial sectors (steel, cement and aluminium) will be added to the country’s national ETS by the end of 2024, meaning their emission intensity will be regulated going forward. On 9 September, government officials released policy drafts soliciting public opinions on a broad work plan regarding this ETS scope expansion.
