Greenfact obtained a leaked version of the Commission’s draft proposal for a Directive on green claims that will be presented in March 2023. The Directive establishes criteria for environmental labels and voluntary environmental claims made in the EU by traders and for products made available on the internal EU/EEA market in business-to-consumer commercial practices. In this article, we will take a closer look at the leaked draft proposal and comment on how it, in its current leaked form, could affect the GO market and the practice of using GOs for making GHG emission claims.
