Bulgaria plans to support a total of 1.4 GW new wind and solar projects alongside 350 MW co-located battery energy storage systems (BESS) via a grant of almost EUR 340 million from EU’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
The energy ministry has put out for public consultation the draft documents for application and implementation of the scheme (open until 6 November 2023). This comes just days after the parliament voted on second reading some long-overdue changes to the country’s Renewable Energy Act that paved the way for the Bulgarian Sustainable Energy Development Agency (SEDA) to become a full AIB member.
